Skyview partners with Eden-Rose Coppice to enhance the restorative power of nature
On Tuesday 11th February 2025, some of the Skyview team met with the organisers and volunteers at Eden-Rose Coppice, a local charity providing safe, easy-to-access, urban outdoor natural woodland environments for the support of people and their families living with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.
Founded in 2007 by team leader Rob Brooks, after his wife Rosemary sadly lost her battle with lung cancer aged just 50, the initiative enables users to connect with nature, while taking part in various activities.
The project, which operates five sites across Suffolk and Essex, provides volunteering opportunities, while supporting cancer patients, those living with terminal illnesses, the elderly, and people with learning difficulties and mental health conditions.
Spending time in nature has long been proven to not only improve health, sleep, reduce stress, and boost happiness. Trees, in particular, are well-known to provide health benefits, and the tranquil setting of the woodlands provides comfort for palliative care patients, whilst feeling part of a community.
At Skyview, we prioritise environmental responsibility and wellbeing and love to support local ventures where we can. We were so impressed with the work that the volunteers selflessly carry out at the Coppice come rain or shine, that we reached out to the team back in 2024 to see how we could help.
The charity was in need of a large tree for their orchard area, which had suffered due to extreme weather. We were delighted to donate a Black Alder tree, which is native of Suffolk – making it all the more special. Skyview staff also donated their time to hand-deliver our Skyview plaque, and to ensure the tree could be settled into its new home.
We are thrilled to support the charity in their mission to inspire positive community action for a greener and healthier future, and we look forward to our next visit to see the team and how our tree is thriving!
