About Givaudan:
Givaudan is a top-tier COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) site and a global leader in the flavour and fragrance industry. Givaudan offers a clean-label solution to the food and beverage industry, creates fine fragrances, and develops beauty and well-being solutions for various personal and home care products. Givaudan hosts over 185 locations worldwide and, therefore, serves a diverse global clientele. With a focus on sustainability and aiming to become climate-positive by 2050, minimising their environmental impact is a key priority for Givaudan.
The challenge:
As a top-tier COMAH site, Givaudan operates under strict regulatory requirements due to the presence of large quantities of hazardous substances. These facilities are required to produce detailed safety reports, undergo regular safety inspections, and implement emergency planning for potential major accidents to ensure public and environmental safety.
Weather monitoring is essential for COMAH site safety planning. For Givaudan, weather data such as wind speed and direction are crucial, as they monitor and help control the spread of potential odour release. Real-time weather data acts as an early warning system, enabling these sites to respond swiftly to any incident that may occur.
As part of the COMAH regulation is to have an emergency plan in place in the event of a major accident, Givaudan has a dedicated Major Accidents Office. This is a secure facility acting as a safe haven for workers to be relocated in case of an emergency.
Accurate environmental monitoring is essential for Givaudan to meet the strict safety standards set by COMAH. Without reliable real-time weather data, operators' ability to manage and respond to major events would be significantly compromised, resulting in a higher risk to the site, local community, and environmental safety.
Our Solution:
For over ten years, Givaudan has trusted us to provide reliable environmental monitoring solutions that support their ongoing commitment to site safety under COMAH regulations. After initially approaching us, enquiring about the need for temperature and humidity monitoring on site, we provided them with a monitoring solution tailored to meet the requirements of a COMAH-regulated site.
After collaborating with the Givaudan team to understand their operational requirements, we provided them with our Remote Weather Monitoring Solution. This solution combines hardware, software, and remote access through our Skylink-Pro Platform, enabling operators access to real-time and historical weather data of their site. Our remote weather monitoring solution uses GPRS technology, allowing operators and site managers to view and make informed decisions based on the reliable data received from any location.
Ensuring long-term performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction is at the heart of the service we provide at Skyview Systems. Through our complete care agreement, Givaudan has constant access to support ranging from calibration and remote assistance to maintenance and repairs. We ensure their weather system remains calibrated, reliable, and functional all year round.
